The first couple of times I played through Farcry 2, it was on the PC soon after it was released. I don't mind saying it was on a pirate copy made for me by a friend. After finishing it, I had to have my own new copy, which I got., and played through again.
Then the Fortune hunters pack came out, and I played and beat it again,
Then my son Anthony twisted my arm into getting an Xbox, so had to get Farcry 2 as one of my first games,
so, went through it again.
Next time, I was back on the PC and I decided to experiment so I did tests and studies with every weapon in the game.
Now Ive heard the call again.
I think every serious gamer has a "Home" game.
I've had several over the years, beginning in the
arcades with Space Invaders.
What do I mean by Home game?
It's the game that you jack into, and when you hear the music, see the
environment, and begin to move around in the world you take a deep,
relaxing breath and you feel, well at home.
THAT is a Home game.
FarCry 2 is just such a game for me. It seems no matter how much I play
it, how many times I finish it, when thing go South in my life, and the
stress level goes up,
FarCry 2 is the game I always seem to turn to when I'm in need of
sublimation.
I play both the PC and the Xbox with equal relish, my only complaint
about the Xbox version being all the excessive save game requests.
I know there are a lot of whiny boys that complain about aspects of the
game, but its those very things about it I like.
Last week we found out mom has lung cancer. To fill the long hours of
waiting between Dr appointments and the long nights staying with her,
Its been FarCry 2 getting me through.
I'm trying something different this time. experienced players in the
game will appreciate this:
The only weapons I have is the starting machine gun you buy in the
beginning guide mission, and the Fortune Hunter bonus weapons. With
those I'm going around and collecting all the briefcases so I have about 405 diamonds, so far all of the ones in the North and a few from the South.
Right now I'm 50% through the game and if I bought everything that was unlocked it would cost a cool 454 diamonds. So needless to say I could buy everything available I could want.
I'm going to see just how far into the game I can push in the game carrying only the
starting guns and every diamond on the normal difficulty. In addition, I'm chasing down the last of the achievements that I didn't bother with the last time I played on the 360. Primarily the diamond hunting "Wages of Conflict" and the others involving exploration.
